Going Green

For a salon, colour schemes can be a complex issue. By their very nature salons need to be bright and fashionable, but different tones affect hair colour and strong colour schemes can soon date. Joanne Salon has used light and dark wood as the base for the salon’s colour palette. The simple two-tone scheme is given a fresh contemporary feel, however with subtle soft green elements.

The two separate units of this salon are joined by a central reception, and the dark wood furniture produced by The Style Zone is kept simple, so as not to overcrowd what are two relatively small spaces. Even the hand- crafted seating in the waiting area is simple and uncluttered. The two sections are symmetrical, which establishes unity, ensuring that the salon appears as one single unit rather than two separate entities.

It’s the green tinge to the colour scheme, however that gives the salon its freshness. At first glance it’s not easy to spot the individual colour features as they meld to create an overall ambient glow. An expansive wall is papered with a crisp white wallpaper decorated sparsely with light green squares, while ceiling down-lights are fitted with very effective green-halos. Small sections of wall are painted with a crisp mint green while the glass of bespoke shampoo cabinetry has a subtle green tone. These bespoke units also have lighting installed. This accentuates the sea-green colour and creates an eye-catching feature that simply draws you into this very sharp looking salon.
