Creating a salon interior that’s unique is not easy. Mass produced salon furniture, tight budgets and practical constraints often means that what were inspired ideas, end in generic results. An innovative designer and bespoke furnishings however, ensured that A’courts Hair in Bournemouth would never be considered run-of-the-mill.
While the layout itself is simple, the salon’s clever two-tone flooring creates neat sections and natural division of areas. Two distinct wood tones are also used throughout the bi-level salon. Deep, rich mahogany flooring creates a working platform, while the warmer cherry wood of the reception and styling units seems almost to glow. Black chairs would have looked out of place with the warm woody-tones, so as well as supplying the bespoke furnishings, The Style Zone provided the Tonda styling chair in a custom-made deep, rich maroon.
The salon’s slightly quirky Colour Bar was also an innovation that The Style Zone helped produce. The market stall-esque unit with its roller shutter is a clever way of brining the art of colour preparation out into the main salon with minimal use of space. A back wall has been made into a striking feature with the simple use of retro-chintz style, large print, floral wallpaper. This, and the colours, gives the salon a warm old-world feel while the lighting, contemporary art works and detailed finish put it firmly in the here and now.
