A practical space with a real salon feel

Being a new project, the designers and shopfitters of The Style Zone were really able to show their skills in creating college interiors. The multi-salon, multi-classroom complex offers courses in all aspects of hair and beauty therapy and The Style Zone was able to work with the department heads, the governing body and the architects to make the best possible use of the available space and budget.

Working with the heads of the hairdressing department, The Style Zone drafted plans for three separate salon environments, each designed to accommodate a specific student group. Each salon is a self-contained classroom with a layout and equipment selected to cater to the specific year and training that it will provide. Salon 1 has chairs with headrests to enable barbering, make-up and other specialist services in addition to the usual hairdressing course work. Catering more for the experienced student, this classroom also has a custom made ‘Colour Bar’ for colour mixing and preparation, a feature to be found in many top salons today.

Salons 2 and 3 are similarly well thought out and fitted for purpose. Custom made styling units cleverly incorporate storage for both products and student’s tools and belongings. Purpose built shampoo units are also designed for both practicality and design and all the units are solidly constructed to deal with the demands of college life.

Each of the three salons has it’s own personality achieved by using different equipment and materials, giving each a unique feel and adding a further dynamic ‘real salon’ air to the hairdressing department.

"Style Zone were responsible for the refurbishment of two existing salons and a new salon at Weston College. I found Richard and Style Zone to be both professional and efficient in their approach. They paid careful attention to detail both in the design and implementation of the agreed project.

The final finish and look was impressive turning dated College facilities into modern, stylish yet practical learning environments.

I have no hesitation in recommending Richard and Style Zone to you and would be more than happy for you to visit our salons and see their work for yourselves."
